According to the local media, there is a 65,000 nurse shortfall in Italy, and 10,000 medical professionals are anticipated to come there soon.

As the Italian government looks to close market gaps, the countries of origin for incoming nurses in Italy can range from neighboring Schengen states to foreign territories.

India Will Grow to Be a Significant Market for Italian Foreign Nurses

The Minister also noted that the 30,000-nurse gap might be addressed by bringing in additional foreign labor, particularly from India.

At the moment, Romania accounts for 12,000 of all foreign nurses, with Poland coming in second with 2,000. Albania and India are significant markets as well; 1,800 nurses come from each of these nations. With 1,500 nurses from this South American nation arriving in Italy, Peru is another expanding market.

Lombardy is one of the Italian regions that has already begun offering local incentives. In addition to the 1,000 nurses who have been trained at Catholic universities in Nigeria, Tanzania, Congo, Cameroon, Argentina, Peru, and India, this region will soon get 200 nurses from Argentina and others from Paraguay.

The Italian government intends to implement more lenient regulations for international nurses.

The Italian government is trying to make regulations easier for foreign workers in an attempt to attract more of them.

A four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a three- to three-and-a-half-year General Nursing and Midwifery diploma are among the prerequisites for employment as a nurse in Italy.
