The German Embassy stressed that the current condition of affairs will not affect the visa process in an official statement posted on its official X account, which states that the visa issuance procedure will proceed as usual.
Simultaneously, the Embassy emphasized that cross-border travel remains feasible and mentioned that the government will step up measures to prevent lengthy lines at the nation’s land borders.
Regarding the decision to tighten controls at all land crossings, the German Embassy in Ankara stated that this will aid in the nation’s efforts to thwart unauthorized entry.
The Embassy added that the decision aims to ensure safe, orderly, and lawful entry into German territory and that the measure is fully compliant with EU legislation.
On September 16, Germany implemented controls at all land border crossings. Controls at all land borders will stay in place for six months, according to a statement made last week by Nancy Faeser, the German interior minister. She did, however, hint that if things don’t get better with the irregular migration scenario, they might be prolonged for an additional time.
A Significant Amount of German Schengen Visa Applications Were Filed by Turkish Nationals in 2023
Turkey’s citizens apply for German Schengen visas in large numbers each year.
Turkish nationals submitted 253,462 applications for German Schengen visas in 2023 alone, according to data from the Schengen Visa Statistics webpage. Not every applicant for the document, nevertheless, was granted a visa.
55,495 out of the total applications for a German visa were denied, while 187,388 of the applications were positively answered.
The volume of requests for a German Schengen visa has been high this year as well.
The Turkish government has reiterated its desire to have a visa-free entry deal with the EU as soon as possible, citing the difficulties Turkish citizens have in acquiring a Schengen visa.
The nation reaffirmed its commitment to enlisting in the EU. The EU’s accession negotiations with Turkey started in 2005, but a number of political impasses and conflicts have caused them to stagnate recently.
